The collaboration agreement between CERN, the leading global laboratory in particle physics, and Lightneer will be signed at the occasion of the “CERN Roadshow in Finland”, which takes place on Thursday 6th April 2017 at Aalto Design Factory in Espoo, Finland, organised by the Helsinki Institute of Physics and CERN.

The first game stemming from this collaboration, called Big Bang Legends, is particle physics inspired mobile game that launched in Singapore last week. The goal of the game is to inspire gamers of all ages to learn concepts of physics and chemistry, while enjoying the easy and agile gaming experience. The learning contents of Big Bang Legends include topics like composition of the atom and the elements of the periodic table, that have acted as a building ground for the illustrated atom hero characters.

Both parties have a joint interest in furthering public understanding of particle physics and express their will to collaborate on the development of learning games about the constituents of matter and the evolution of the Universe, as well as participate together in outreach events and exhibitions.

As Peter Vesterbacka, Lightneer’s Brand Breaker and Co-Founder says: “Who would think that I could learn the first 10 elements in one game session just by playing? It’s an exciting new way for adults and children to learn together!”

Rolf Landua, Head of Global Engagement at CERN, comments: “This collaboration brings fun and science together. Even for the youngest players, it introduces key concepts of fundamental physics in a playful way. I am confident that together we can inspire the scientists of tomorrow also through games.”

Lauri Järvilehto, CEO of Lightneer says: “As a learning game company, we are extremely excited to launch this partnership as we believe it will accelerate the popularisation and appreciation for science to new heights. We want to spark the love for learning for all the future Einsteins out there!”

Learning game studio LIGHTNEER INC. was founded in 2015 in Helsinki, Finland, that is considered a hotbed of innovative education and gaming. Lightneer team consists of gaming veterans with backgrounds at mobile game market leaders and its advisory board includes global gaming and science legends such as Oxford Professor Marcus du Sautoy, Head of Global Outreach at CERN Rolf Landua and former Mattel and Sega CEO Tom Kalinske. Big Bang Legends is now available in South East Asia and Finland on iOS devices, and is shortly launched in rest of the Nordic and Baltic countries as well as South East Asia also for Android devices.
